TheKidPlay website vs the Android app

October 13, 2026 · By TheKidPlay

TheKidPlay’s public product is the website at thekidplay.com. A TheKidPlay Android app (package name com.thekidplay.app) exists as a closed beta. It is not available to the general public. Families should use the website.

This page is a product summary for parents. It is current as of the date above. If we change ads, accounts, or how public the app is, we will update this guide and the Privacy Policy.

Browser play on thekidplay.com

On the website, kids play in a browser. There is nothing to install. A parent can type thekidplay.com on a laptop, a school Chromebook, or a tablet and start Drawing Studio or a game.

The website is the full current list of drawing tools, games, and quizzes. It works on a shared school or library computer if you stay a guest and do not leave an account signed in. If you want a quiet kitchen-table session, open thekidplay.com on a laptop or tablet. That is the product we maintain for every family.

The Android app is a closed beta

The current Android app is a closed beta and is not available to the general public. Do not plan a car ride, a waiting room, or a family phone around installing it. If you are not in the beta, you cannot get the app from a public store listing.

The beta build still needs an internet connection to load activities. It is not a full offline toy. Testers should not assume airplane-mode play.

Accounts: optional on the website, not offered in the beta

Website accounts are optional. Guests can play in the browser. An account is for signing in on thekidplay.com. It does not save a public artwork gallery. Details are in guest vs account.

The current closed-beta Android app does not offer accounts. There is no sign-in screen that connects to the website login. If you create a website account, you are signing up for the website, not for a public app.

Ads: website vs the closed-beta app

thekidplay.com is a child-directed site. To keep the website free, we use or plan to use Google AdSense. Ads are intended to be non-personalized—not interest-based ads aimed at a child. They are still ads. They can be distracting. Safety, privacy, and ads explains that in more detail.

The current closed-beta Android app does not show ads and does not include in-app purchases. That does not make it a public, ad-free alternative. Opening the website in a browser can still show website ads.

Drawing, games, and quizzes

Use the website Games page for the current public list. Paint Canvas and Shuffle Game are browser activities. A mouse and a large screen make Drawing Studio easier for some kids. A phone browser is fine for short tap games and harder for detailed drawing.
